Thompson's XXX-rated 30th

by Leanne Watkinson

It’s not every day that a company can celebrate its dirty 30th, so here at Thompson Brand Partners we decided to do it in style.

  • Last Friday saw industry clients, friends and well-wishers gather in Munro House in Leeds for a XXX-themed event (30 being XXX in Roman numerals). True to the anniversary, 30 TBP employees past and present contributed a poster each, responding to a brief to “represent something that interests you now”. As Founder and Creative Director Ian Thompson explains: “When Thompson hit 30 this year, I didn’t really want anything retrospective. Although I started the company as a one-man band in October 1984 with no real plan, other than to try and produce good work, I’m still more interested in what everyone is doing and thinking right now.”

“I asked the current team and some of the people who have been through our doors to produce a piece of work that talks about what interests them now. 30 individual insights into the way creative people think is the result — a mix of obsessions, interests and welcome distractions.”

  • The results made for an intriguing and tantalising private view, which can now be seen here at http://tbp30.com/, and it was great to see so many people who’ve contributed to the success of TBP all in one place. A fun and booze-filled night was had by all, so, congratulations Ian Thompson and Thompson Brand Partners — here’s to the next 30!
