A strategic partnership

Our strategic partnership with Leeds College of Music ran from 2004-2011, including various rebrands, re-positions and individual campaigns. The world of music conservatoires has always been competitive, with each college vying for the most talented students each year. Leeds College of Music, as a relative newcomer had to work especially hard to prove their worth. As tuition fees increased, it became even more important that they stand out and attract the brightest and best musicians from around the world.

Serious about success

During the relationship, we created two brand re-positionings spanning higher, further and postgrad education. Brought to life in prospectuses, websites, signage, printed literature and marketing campaigns the creative was always fresh, forward-looking and often trend setting, mixing traditional photography techniques with eclectic type and print treatments. Underpinning the design was a seriousness – the College is serious about music, and their role in students’ success.

A brighter future

The branding delivered year on year, as the College went through a phase of significant growth. It helped achieve annual increases in applications, including an uplift of 32.2% in 2008, the highest increase in the sector that year, bucking the national trend. There were also award numerous awards including a DBA Design Effectiveness Award and a gold prize in the Heist Awards for Education Marketing. In 2010/11, the FE marketing was so successful that all places were filled before the prospectus went to print!
