Rubbing shoulders with the Designerati

by Nick Ramshaw

We were delighted (but not surprised) to see our Creative Director Ian Thompson included in Designerati 2015 Compiled by the readers of The Drum, this is an annual platform that celebrates the UK’s most influential designers. These are the individuals that our industry feels should be celebrated for their ingenuity in fresh thinking, ability to inspire others and their relentless commitment to design.

  • The list includes design leaders from the automotive, fashion, branding, digital, retail and manufacturing wings of the industry. Ian is rubbing shoulders with the likes of Wayne Hemingway, James Dyson, Paul Smith, Tom Dixon, Neville Brody, Michael Johnson and Thomas Heatherwick, which ain’t too shabby a list of contemporaries. Well done Ian.

  • This week has been made even more memorable, as we won our first ever Drum Design Award. The first edition of Work & Turn, produced for Kingsbury Press, was a winner in the Print Design category. If you haven’t seen a copy of the high quality brochure/magazine, look out for the second edition, which is due out in May 2015.

  • Given the exceptionally high quality of entrants, this was another of those awards you really, really want to win. And we did! Other winners on the night included Hunter’s global flagship store in Regent Street, an app for Beats Music, a Rolls Royce exhibition and the Selfridges Fragrance Laboratory…. so again, great company to keep.
