Celebrating London 2012's creative legacy.
Recently three members of the TBP design team joined the Design Council’s Beyond 2012 celebrations at their launch event by heading south, down to the London 2012 Olympic Village.
The Design Council launched Beyond 2012 one year on from the London 2012 Games as a celebration of the creative legacy of London 2012, following the launch of LOCOG’s Supplier Recognition Scheme. The scheme lifts the previously tight no-marketing clauses, to allow agencies across the UK who worked on the Games to share their stories and publish previously unseen work.
The Design Council championed the scheme to help raise the profile of the UK’s
design industry, and inspire creatives for years to come.Thompson Brand Partners played their part in the London 2012 Games from even before the bid, and so are proud to have a number of Olympic projects featured in the showcase. Stories featured on the website include Stories of the World, Eames cards, and the Olympic Delivery Authority’s ‘En Route’ transport handbook, all of which can be seen here.The Beyond 2012 event took place just outside the famous Olympic Village and was hosted by Olympic swimmer Sharon Davies. It featured speakers including John Mathers, Chief Exec of the Design Council, the Minister of State for Sport and Tourism, as well as designers from Futurebrand, amongst others, all come together to recognise and thank designers for their contribution to such a memorable event.
All in all, an inspirational evening and one we were proud to be a part of.
