We won two golds at the DBA Design Effectiveness Awards 2017!

  • Back in October, we were delighted to hear that we’d won two prestigious Design Business Association (DBA) 2017 Design Effectiveness Awards. These were for our work with Harrogate Spring Water and NHS Leeds South and East CCG’s MindMate. This was doubly pleasing as these are awards are notoriously hard to win. We submitted two entries and won two awards, which is fantastic!

  • What are the DBA Awards?
    The Design Effectiveness Awards recognise impactful, wide-ranging examples of design that have had a tangible and measurable impact upon business success. Judged by business leaders and entered jointly by client and designer, the awards draw focus onto design’s strategic and commercial value to business.

    To win an award, each entry needs to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the design work has positively influenced the performance of the product or brand. To win gold requires outstanding results and deep impact throughout the client’s business.

  • Bronze, silver or gold?
    The award winners gathered at a swanky ceremony in London last week to hear whether their awards were at bronze, silver or gold levels. The anticipation was immense! And for us it was a double whammy success, with both our awards achieving the coveted gold standard. In fact, we were the only agency to win two gold awards on the night!

    Being able to share the experience on the night with our clients made it extra special. Our team was accompanied by James, Nicky and Rob from Harrogate, and Ruth and Liz from the MindMate team. Their enthusiasm throughout the whole process just goes to show what can be achieved when agency and client work well together.

  • Harrogate sales up over 40%
    Our rebrand of Harrogate helped to increase sales by 41.4% over two years to 2016. The brand’s growth out-performed the rest of the bottled water market by more than 100% and secured major new retail listings from Coop, Morrisons and Waitrose. Their market share is up 6% and the company that bottles the water managed to create 30 new jobs over the same period.

  • Mindmate. My trusted friend
    Working with a partnership led by NHS Leeds South and East CCG, we created a new place for young people with mental health issues. This place is called Mindmate. Designed in collaboration with young people, the website makes services more accessible and has helped transform support for young people with complex issues. Mindmate helped 1,500 young people in May 2016 alone, whilst unique page views increased by 101% in less than a year and the number of people being helped is up by 71%.

  • Up to 10 in total
    These two fantastic gold wins increase our total number of Design Effectiveness Awards to 10 in the last 10 years. Producing design work that has tangible proof of results lies at the heart of our agency, so these awards are very important to us.

    Previous wins include Keelham Farm Shop, Arco, Leeds Building Society, Fontsmith, National Railway Museum and Leeds College of Music.
